pj: food foundry

food foundry is a neighborhood joint in seksyen 17. it's one of the restos in happy mansion. we like the ambiance of the resto though the area is generally spooky aka dodgy.


i've eaten here a couple of times but i only managed to take a picture of this one. it's chicken cordon bleu. very hefty serving i love chicken cordon bleu and this one was pure lean chicken. i would have wanted though a creamier mashed potato.

the place serves fabulous mille crepe that i should take pictures of! i'll try to find if i have a picture of that and insert here.

addendum: yey i found a picture of the first mille crepe i had which was strawberry :). it was yummy.

kl: dimsum bargain

i found vouchers for 4 baskets of dimsum for only 10RM! yup so it means that one basket is roughly 35PHP. it's one of those places nearby my house not sure if the name of the resto is aked esplanade. it's a chinese resto in taman esplanade. anyway i just wanted to share the pics for this dimsum bargain.

the items were average but the siumais were huge! i said 4 for 10RM, i had 2 vouchers so we actually had 8 baskets/plates, we got some of these items twice. the dimsum were very hot so i was happy with them. otherwise, it could have been a dismal meal, but for 20RM with 8 baskets/plates, one shouldn't complain.

if i suddenly get a dimsum craving atleast i can go to this place which is actually walkable from my condo now that i've thought about it. but i would still trek to jalan ipoh to satiate my dimsum cravings.

one of my favorite lunch places. i always dine here when i really want good food and can splurge a little. i only manage to capture some of the food i've tried here but the best is the tom yum !!!

fried chicken wings 

yummy tom yum can be had with either chicken or seafood. i prefer the seafood. this one has coconut milk but not that cloying with the right balance of spiciness and tartness, the flavors just explode once you sip the broth. i've tried the tomyum meehoon and it uses the same tom yum just with added meehoon, a perfect meal if you're on a tighter budget.

spring rolls

my other favorite aside from the tom yum is this meal with a spicy fried rice with generous amounts of shrimps, steamed veggies and salted egg. totally delish! you can skip the spring rolls, fish cakes and the vietnamese noodles (yeah i also wonder why they have that in a thai resto). quench your thirst with my favorite lemongrass iced tea.

there's limited affordable lunch options near my workplace. for a foodie like me, sometimes i really have to spend to gear away from the normal lunch places i dine at. one time i decided to try icook italian.

 my fresh carrot and apple juice with a whopping RM8 or 9 price tag (i forgot already), and yeah the glass is as small as a cup. i dunno if it's there's even at least 250ml in there. i just couldn't fathom the price.

my chicken panini. i was happy to see it was big at RM22 if i remembered correctly i thought it was a good deal. but lo and behold, the chicken inside? was paper thin. seriously, i don't know how they where able to slice it that thin plus the chicken was so dry already. i wouldn't mind having just half of this size with a much thicker chicken breast! 

maybe i should have tried the pasta? or the pizza? or maybe the famous roasted chicken. but unfortunately, i wasn't in the mood for those and i wasn't a happy camper when i went out of here. the potatoes were nice though :P. i'll post some more lunch spots and you'll realize where i'm coming from or how willing i am to spend as long as it is worth it.

i love vietnamese food and unfortunately there's not much around kl and surrounding areas. i haven't tried pho hoa here just because their locations are far from me.

vietnam kitchen is just a stone's throw away from our client's office so we've had dinner here a couple of times. this is one of my favorite dishes, it's a vermicelli bowl with grilled chicken and spring rolls. all i can say is, it doesn't fare with pho hoa. the veggies are a bit stubby unlike pho hoa's whhich are thinner and meshes well with the vermicelli. also, the vermicelli on this one is bit overcooked, i liked them springy.

fancy drink i forgot what 5 or 6 or 7 treasures? nothing to rave about and it as well. 

i still go here once in a while especially if i need to satiate my vietnamese cravings.  maybe they have dishes that stand out just not my favorite vietnamese dishes.

my heart sank, i checked my picture folder to see the photos of food i need to write posts for and was shocked to see it was more than 20 entries!!! i've been a very bad foodie. i'll try to finish them all this january, before the year of the dragon ends. for the chinese it's still not new year anyway ;).

village tavern, second time around

just additional pictures from village tavern from a recent outing.

village tavern appetizer sampler (left to right, top to bottom) - quesadilla, calamari, crab cakes and egg roll. dunno what happened but the crab cake didn't taste like the first time i tried it. nothing stood out on this sampler.

white fish with pasta (forgot the name) but definitely this was not cream dory, we were told it's snapper so that sold it for my mom. i liked this one.

thai chicken salad - loved this one though it is heavy on the dressing which i told the staff. fair enough they wanted to replace it but we opted otherwise.

service was great as always. i really commend the service at village tavern. however, during a more recent visit we had some issues with the bistro card but that's a totally different story.

if someone from the bistro group gets to read this i hope they do something about the misleading bistro card which is really a disappointment.
